Gifts are always special and heartwarming. There cannot be a single soul in the whole world that doesn’t enjoy the warmth of receiving gifts. But the gift which we are going to ponder this month is about a special one. The gift of love received from our parents. How many of us have realized that our parents are a gift from God. Every child finds his/her first special love, attention, care and security from parents. Love of our parents is always unconditional. Although we take their love for granted, they do not do so to us. We are always their apple of the eye.
So, to spice up the topic, am going to
start off with an aged moral story. Once upon a time, a father and a
son went on for trekking. The father was in his mid 80’s and the son
was in his early 50’s. As they were climbing they took rest under a
tree for lunch. Gazing at a tree, the father pointed a bird to the son
and asked him, “Son, what bird is that?” Looking towards the tree the
son exclaimed, “Dad, it’s a vulture”. Couple of minutes later, the
father repeated the question for the second time pointing at the bird,
“Son, what bird is that?” Reluctantly the son answered “Dad, it’s a
vulture”. Couple of minutes later the father repeated the same
question, “Son, what bird is that?” This time an agitated son, shouted
back at his father saying “Dad how many times you will ask me the same
question, I’ve said the name of the bird twice, and still you keep on
troubling me asking the same question?” disappointed hearing his words,
the father said his son “Son when we came to this place when you were
four years old, you asked me the same question 10 times”. A moved son
apologized to his dad for his behavior.
Yes dear friends, we also take our
parents love for granted most of the times, not realizing it was our
parents who taught us to walk and talk. Being in an android world, we
see our parents who know nothing about the fast moving world,
forgetting that they are bringing up among those challenges. We
see them as a burden in their old age and fail to take care of them.
Where would we be without our mom and dad? Nowhere. We fail to
recognize their sacrifices for us. We fall short most times by
disrespecting them and using harsh words. It all happens, as we think
that they know about your world. Respecting them in
your teen and youth will bring abundant blessings for us in the near
future. Acknowledging their ignorance and being patient to them adds to
your glory. Let’s not forget that we will soon take their
places. So my dear prodigies, let’s not forget to make a wise
choice and take much regard for the heavenly gift of PARENTS.
