involves steeling of data and blocking the network from its access. It
modifies the features of any system, in order to accomplish a goal
outside of the creator's original purpose.
Who Is A Hacker?
The person who is consistently engaging in hacking activities is called a hacker.
He or she has chosen hacking as their lifestyle and philosophy of
their choice. These people are highly skilled personalities. Unlike the
programmer who knows only about program developing and network analyst
who knows only about the network, the hacker knows each and every nuke
and corner of a computer system. Generally hackers are of many types.
Now let us have a look at the basic types of hackers.
Types Of Hackers:-
Many people are afraid of the term hacking or a hacker. But there are
people who defend the attacks of a hacker. The basic types of hackers
include
Black Hat Hacker:
A black hat hacker violates
computer security for little reason beyond maliciousness or for
personal gain. He or she belongs to illegal hacking groups often
portrayed in popular culture, and are the epitome of all that the
public fears in a computer criminal. Hackers keep the awareness of
the vulnerabilities to themselves and do not notify the general public
or the manufacturer for patches to be applied. Once they have gained
control over a system, they may apply patches or fixes to the system
only to keep their reigning control.
White Hat Hacker:
The term white hat hacker
in computer slang refers to an ethical computer hacker, or
a computer security expert, who specializes in penetration
testing and in other testing methodologies to ensure the security of an
organization's information systems. Ethical hacking is a
term coined by IBM meant to imply a broader category than
just penetration testing.
Grey Hat Hacker:
The grey hat hacker discovers
vulnerability, instead of telling the vendor how the exploit works, he
or she may offer to repair it for a small fee. When one successfully
gains illegal access to a system or network, he or she may suggest to
the system administrator that one of his or her friends be hired to fix
the problem; however, this practice has been declining due to the
increasing willingness of businesses to prosecute.
Hackers acts as just passing agents
in computer terms, a Middleware. But there are original villains
presiding behind those hackers who hires them and make use of
them. Being a hacker is not a sin but it is necessary to choose a
wise hat. Mistakes could even lead to sentence of death. Happy
hacking!
